Recently, the fourth batch of the Provincial Key Tourism Villages and the second batch of the Provincial Key Tourism Towns were released by Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism. Pushi Town and Huangjiaqiao Village in Luxi County, Changputang Village in Fenghuang County and Jinlong Village in Huayuan County were on the list.
Pushi Town is a national historical and cultural town, with 3 historical blocks, 2 historical relics and 204 historic buildings. In 2016, Pushi Town was rated as a national 4A scenic area.
Pushi Town is the birthplace of Chenhe High-pitched Tune, which is known as the “living fossil of Oriental opera”. Some local items like Chenhe High-pitched Tune and Pushi ancient architectural customs are listed as national or provincial intangible cultural heritage. Huangjiaqiao Village is an important part of Pushi Town Scenic Area.
Changputang Village has explored a distinctive way to shake off poverty and get rich through years of practice. It has become a national exchange base for poverty alleviation and created a “Changputang Model” that combines poverty alleviation with rural revitalization.
In recent years, the village has actively developed rural tourism, and has become a leading demonstration village for Red study tours and integration of agriculture and tourism.
There are many tourist attractions like Biancheng Town, the Gumiao River National Wetland Park, Dalong Cave Scenic Area and Molao Village around Jinlong Village. Chiyou Legend (Chiyou is a mythological warrior engaged in fighting with the Yellow Emperor), Huayuan dragon dance and other kinds of folk culture are well preserved. Jinlong Village has been successively rated as an ethnic-minority village with cultural significance and traditional Chinese village.
